Almond Butter Tofu

Ingredients

  • 1 Block Extra Firm Tofu
  • 3 Tbsp Hot Water
  • 2 Tbsp Almond Butter
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Tamari or Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Chili Garlic Sauce
  • 2 tsp Ginger
  • 2 tsp Sugar or Agave Syrup
  • 2 tbsp Neutral Oil for Cooking (we use avocado oil)

Instructions

  1. Press and drain tofu to remove excess water.
  2. Mince garlic and ginger.
  3. Cut tofu into 1 inch cubes.
  4. In small bowl combine garlic, ginger, sugar, almond butter, tamari or soy sauce, sesame oil, and chili garlic sauce.
  5. Add hot water gradually while whisking until mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  6. In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons oil on medium heat.
  7. Cook tofu until crispy and golden brown on all sides.
  8. When tofu is crispy and golden brown, lower heat to low setting and add almond butter sauce.
  9. Toss tofu in the sauce until fully coated and sauce has started to slightly thicken.
  10. Serve over rice with desired veggies.
