- 1 Sheet of Puff Pastry (thawed)
- 1/2 cup Vegan Cream Cheese (room temperature)
- 2 tbsp Granulated Sugar (organic)
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Apple Pie Filling
Vegan Egg Wash
- 2 tbsp Vegan Butter (melted)
- 2 tbsp Agave or Maple Syrup
Icing (optional)
- 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar (organic)
- 1 tsp Vegan Milk or Lemon Juice
Instructions
Cream Cheese Filling
- Mix together the vegan cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract with a rubber spatula or whisk.
Vegan Egg Wash
- In a small dish, melt the vegan butter in the microwave in 10-second intervals.
- Mix together the melted butter and agave or maple syrup until fully combined and set it aside.
Apple Cream Cheese Danishes
- Preheat the oven to 400℉ or the designated temperature on the puff pastry packaging.
- Unfold the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and gently roll it out using a rolling pin until the creases disappear. This should only take a few rolls in each directions.
- Using a lightly floured round biscuit or cookie cutter, cut the dough into circles and transfer them to a parchment-lined baking tray.
- Using a smaller round cutter or paring knife, lightly score a ¼-inch border around the perimeter of each pastry. Avoid cutting all the way through.
- Brush the borders with a thin layer of vegan egg wash.
- Spread about ½ tablespoon of the cream cheese filling in the middle of each pastry within the borders. Lightly flatten the filling with the back of a spoon or a small offset spatula.
- Add one tablespoon of apple pie filling on top of the cream cheese. Feel free to top each one with a little more if needed to use all of the apple filling.
- Bake according to the package instructions or until the edges of the pastries are gold brown.
- Drizzle with icing while the danishes are still warm.
- Allow them to cool before serving.
