Description

Simple stewed apples made with fresh Granny Smith and Fuji apples, warm cinnamon and nutmeg, and a just-right touch of sweetness.  


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2-3 Apples (Granny Smith & At Least 1 Fuji)
  • 2-3 tbsp Maple Syrup or Agave
  • 1/2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch Nutmeg
  • Pinch Salt

Instructions

  1. Peel the apples and cut them into small, bite-sized chunks.
  2. To a small saucepan over medium heat, add the apples, water, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Stir and bring the apples to a simmer.
  4. Lower the heat and allow the apples to simmer for 7-10 minutes, or until the apples are slightly tender.
  5. In the last few minutes of cooking, carefully taste test the apples and sweeten them with the agave or maple syrup according to your taste.
  6. Remove the apples from the heat. Enjoy them warm or allow them to cool before serving.
