Ingredients to Make Simple Stewed Apples:

  • Apples: I like to use 2 Granny Smiths and 1 Honeycrisp or Fuji apple.
  • Sweetener: maple syrup or agave
  • Water
  • Lemon Juice
  • Spices: Cinnamon & Nutmeg
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Salt: to enhance the flavor of the apples and spices.

How to Make Simple Stewed Apples:

  1. Cut the apples into small, even chunks.
  2. To a small saucepan, over medium heat, add the apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. 
  3. Stir and bring the apples to a simmer.
  4. Lower the heat and simmer the apples for 7-10 minutes, or until slightly tender.
  5. In the last few minutes of cooking, carefully taste-test the apples and add maple syrup or agave to taste.
  6. Remove the apples from the heat and enjoy them warm, or allow them to cool before storing.

  • 2-3 Apples (Granny Smith & At Least 1 Fuji)
  • 2-3 tablespoon Maple Syrup or Agave
  • ½ tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch Nutmeg
  • Pinch Salt
