Crispy baked tofu is easy to make without needing an air fryer and is much healthier than deep frying. Made with only 4 simple ingredients, these delicious bites can be made in 30 minutes.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • Healthier Choice: unlike frying, baking doesn’t require much oil, and you have the choice of using olive oil.
  • Versatile: You can use this crispy tofu in so many ways. Topped on salad, tossed in your favorite sauces or seasoning, served with a side of rice and veggies, or as a high-protein snack. The possibilities are almost endless.
  • Easy Clean-up: All you need is one bowl and one baking tray.

Ingredients to Make Crispy Baked Tofu:

  • Tofu: I like to use extra or super firm tofu.
  • Soy Sauce: to add flavor. You can also use tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • Oil: Olive oil or avocado oil both work well for this recipe.
  • Cornstarch: to help make the tofu nice and crispy.

How to Make Crispy Baked Tofu

  1. Preheat the oven to 420℉.
  2. Add the tofu and soy sauce to a container with a lid and gently shake the container to coat all of the tofu.
  3. Allow the tofu to marinate in the soy sauce for at least 5 minutes.
  4. Pour the olive oil over the tofu, cover, and shake the tofu again to coat it with the oil.
  5. Add the cornstarch, cover, and give the tofu one last gentle toss to fully coat it.
  6. Spread the tofu in an even layer onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Separate any tofu cubes that are touching.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes, then turn off the oven and allow the tofu to continue baking for 5 additional minutes while the oven heat subsides.
  9. Remove the tofu from the oven and allow it to cool before serving.

Ways to Use Crispy Baked Tofu:

  • Tossed in my favorite sauces, like harissa, gochujang, or jerk.
  • In salads or nourish bowls.
  • As a quick, high-protein, plant-based snack.

How to Store:

The crispy tofu can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Or in the freezer for up to 2 months. When ready to serve again, I like to crisp it up again in a skillet on medium heat for about 5 minutes, tossing it in a tablespoon of oil.
